Lunch with Art – the Visual Arts Edition 12:15pm - 1:15pm | Bailey Contemporary Arts, 41 NE 1st Street

Lunch with Art – the Visual Arts Edition Poster Trying new things has been proven to make you more creative, and it’s good for your brain. So each Wednesday we offer a new way to nourish your soul & get creative at The Bailey Contemporary Arts during your lunch hour…and it’s FREE!

No two weeks are the same as each new workshop offers a different creative experience and encourages you to step out of the mundane and explore your potential. Each simple, hands-on project becomes an escape from the daily stresses of life and reminds you how beauty can be found in even the most simplest of projects.

Guests are invited to bring their lunch, or grab a bite to eat from Blooming Bean Coffee Roasters, located in our West Gallery.

To ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy this program, seats will be available on a First-Come, First-Serve Basis, and Space Is Limited! However, even if our workshop reaches capacity, guests are able to explore the newest exhibits in our gallery, take the time to learn about upcoming programs, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and spend some time enjoying a coffee while unwinding in our West Gallery.

CEREMONY Exhibition provides historical context into the ritual observances — community celebrations, pageants, parades and banquets shaped by educational pioneers Blanche and Joseph Ely. By taking a closer look at the ceremonies that have shaped traditions in Pompano’s Northwest Community, the exhibition offers yet another abbreviated glimpse into the Ely’s extensive collection of photographs, letters, artifacts and ephemera while building on the work of curatorial consultant, Derek Davis of Davis Kuumba.

This workshop, led by Kimberly Maxwell, will guide you through carving, cutting, shaping, painting, and ultimately creating 2D and sculptural artworks and frames from cardboard. This class is open to all levels, and 18+ due to the tools to be used.

The City of Pompano Beach will kick off the holiday season with the 10th Annual Light Up MLK for the Holidays event featuring live musical performances, a visit from Santa, a beautiful tree lighting ceremony and an array of holiday cheer. The highlight of the evening is the tree lighting ceremony led by Mayor Rex Hardin and other community leaders!

One Love Bahamas: Hurricane Dorian Benefit Concert - Postponed 7:00pm | The Amp, Pompano Beach

Concert Postponed until February 8th. One Love Bahamas, the benefit concert to aid recovery and rebuilding efforts in the Bahamas, has announced the all-star concert line-up. The rockin’ event will be held on Saturday, November 23rd beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Amp in Pompano Beach. All event proceeds will benefit Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas. The City of Pompano Beach, Shipwreck Park and Florida based concert and festival promoters are working together in support of the Bahamas to host One Love Bahamas. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.

Shipwreck Park, a Pompano Beach 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization has diverted all of its efforts to Bahamian Disaster relief and will administer 100% of concert proceeds to this effort. Shipwreck Park is dedicated to the creation of an underwater park system establishing artificial reefs, utilizing public art to raise awareness of the need to preserve and conserve our natural coral reef system.
