Billy Ocean 7:00pm | The Amp (Pompano Beach Amphitheater), 1806 NE 6th St

The Pompano Beach Amp is proud two present two platinum selling artists in one phenomenal show. Billy Ocean and special guest, Taylor Dayne, will be singing all their classic hits at The Amp on Friday, March 17th. Billy Ocean has collected a pile of Gold and Platinum records across the world and hit the number one spot worldwide on pop charts including the USA, Australia, Germany, Holland, and the UK.

Born in Trinidad, Billy settled in London’s East End when just seven years old. The calypso crazy kid soon got turned on to soul singers like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, as well as pop groups like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, leading him to spend much of his study time in the music room.

Billy got his first break when he signed to GTO records, for whom his second single was the Motown-ish “Love Really Hurts Without You,” which reached No. 2 in the UK charts and No. 12 in the US.

Two top twenty singles followed; “Love on Delivery” and “Stop Me,” then “Red Light Spells Danger” became a smash in both the UK and the US.

Billy changed record labels and his move to Jive Records provided instant success, with the million selling American number one single “Caribbean Queen” (for which Billy won a Grammy for best R&B Vocal), followed by “Loverboy” and “Suddenly,” which became the first of Billy’s killer ballads. More hits followed including “When the Going Gets Tough,” “They’ll be Sad Songs,” and “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”

After a break to raise his family, Billy went back out on tour and this year releases his double CD, Here You Are, The Best of Billy Ocean, featuring new tracks along with his classic hits.

Taylor Dayne also racked up an impressive list of hits and will be singing all of her top songs including her number one singles “Tell It to My Heart,” “Love Will Lead You Back” and “Prove Your Love to Me.” In addition to her famous ballads, Taylor will be shaking things up with her classic dance songs including her Billboard Hot Dance hits including “Floor on Fire” and “Beautiful.”

CHARLIE DANIELS BAND with Marshall Tucker Band & De Rose' 6:00pm | The Amp (Pompano Beach Amphitheater), 1806 NE 6th St

Back by popular demand! The Amp is excited to announce that both The Charlie Daniels band and The Marshall Tucker band are coming back in 2017. The concert with the two legendary bands was one of The Amp’s most popular shows, and the venue is thrilled to have them back again. Opening for the legends will be the new band, DeRose.

About Charlie Daniels:
From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at almost 80, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.

Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys. After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.” He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing on the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind. His own unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records.

Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.” Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as single of the year at the Country Music Association Awards. The CDB will perform 100 concert dates this year including performances on the Grand Ole Opry. The band's latest release, "Off the Grid - Doin' It Dylan," features 10 Bob Dylan songs by the CDB, and is their first CDB studio release since 2007

About The Marshall Tucker Band
The MTB opened shows for The Allman Brothers in 1973, and the following year, they began to headline their own shows across America due to the platinum-plus sales of their debut album. They toured constantly playing sheds, stadiums, theaters, fairs, and festivals.

In years to come, The Marshall Tucker Band would wow critics and influence major country acts like Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, and Travis Tritt with its definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel. Now, thanks to the expanding scope of today's music, a new generation of fans is learning what the rest of their fans have known for so long- that good music knows no boundaries. Along the way, the band has recorded twenty two studio albums, three DVDs, three live albums and many compilations.

Currently they are promoting their new release, CD, Live in the UK 1976. The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) took a mighty leap in November of 1976 when they crossed the Atlantic and hit Europe for the first time. The MTB recorded and archived the European tour and now for the first time, the nearly 40 year old live recordings will be available for purchase.

About DeRose':
Formed in 2014 this high energy band has been touring the US with own brand of rock and blues. The band’s members include Randall DeRose, Todd Elder and Brian Miller.
