Commissioner Beverly Perkins, District 4

Beverly Perkins was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and graduated from Pompano Beach Senior High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Organizational Leadership from Trinity International University in Davie.

Ms. Perkins has an extensive record of civic, professional and personal accomplishments. As a community activist for many years in Broward County, she became a Deputized Voter Registrar in the 1980’s. Later, she served as membership chairperson of the North Broward chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Soon after, Beverly was appointed Board Member of the East Broward Medical Center.

In the City of Pompano Beach, Ms. Perkins has been deeply involved in serving her community. She served on the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Advisory Board as well as the Westview Community Cemetery Advisory Board, which is a historic cemetery in the Pompano Beach community. Ms. Perkins also served on the Community Appearance Committee where she initiated the Adopt-A-Street Program for the entire City. This program continues to offer citizens a hands-on approach to the beautification of the City through litter removal and maintenance. Additionally, Beverly served as the president of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Committee for eight years.

Ms. Perkins owns a business in Pompano Beach consulting in Governmental Relations, Community Revitalization, and Economic Development.

Beverly is a strong supporter of education. She chaired the North Broward YMCA Advisory Committee, and currently serves on the Diversity Committee for the School Board of Broward County. She also works as a teacher with the School Board. Ms. Perkins is currently a member of the Broward County Consumer Protection Board where she has served for two years.
