Elections

Municipal Elections are held every two even numbered years in November concurrent with county-wide General Elections.

The Pompano Beach City Commission is comprised of six members, the Mayor and five Commissioners. The Mayor is elected at-large for a four year term and each commissioner is elected by district for a two year term. Candidates for municipal office must file the appropriate forms with the City Clerk prior to opening a campaign account and to qualify for office. Elections are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter and Florida Statutes. For further information please call the City Clerk’s office at 954-786-4611.

Qualifying for Office

Candidates for City Commission must be a qualified elector registered to vote in the City, must have resided in the City for one (1) year immediately preceding qualifying, and must continue to reside during their term of office in the respective election district from which they are elected.

Qualifying and Assessment Fees

An amount equal to 1% of the annual salary of position sought plus $50 City filing fee (Sections 99.092(1) and 99.093(1) , F.S.). The fees must be paid by a check drawn from the campaign checking account. Special Municipal Election is scheduled for: Tuesday, March 13, 2018
The qualified electors of the City of Pompano Beach will be voting on a bond referendum to determine whether the City shall be permitted to issue General Obligation Bonds. Please refer to the following links for more information regarding the General Obligation Bonds Referendum.

General Election is scheduled for: Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
The qualified electors of the City of Pompano Beach will be voting to elect a qualified candidate, for the following seats:

District 1 candidate - Two (2) year term
District 2 candidate - Two (2) year term
District 3 candidate - Two (2) year term
District 4 candidate - Two (2) year term
District 5 candidate - Two (2) year term

Qualifying Dates

Qualifying will begin at Noon, June 18, 2018 and end at Noon, June 22, 2018.
