State, Federal Disaster Loan Programs Activated to Aid Businesses Impacted by Hurricane Irma

Florida SBDC Network Headquarters (Pensacola, Fla.) - Florida businesses impacted by Hurricane Irma may now apply for various state and federal disaster loan programs. As a principal responder in the state's Emergency Support Function for Business and Industry, the Florida SBDC Network stands ready to assist businesses with disaster loan applications and with other post-disaster challenges. Economic Development Information

Pompano Beach offers 3 miles of beautiful shoreline and the city's public beach has been declared a Blue Wave Award winner since 2000. Additionally, the City of Pompano Beach has been named an All-America City.

The All-America City Award is America's original and most prestigious community recognition award honoring communities in which community members, government, businesses and non-profit organizations work together to address critical local issues.

The City has also been declared a Tree City USA for the twenty second (22nd) time and is committed to enhancing its tree canopy and providing shade and fresh air to residents and guests.

Tourism efforts have been enhanced recently as one of Broward County's newest casinos, The Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park was opened in 2007.

Due to our mild year round climate, visitors to Pompano Beach can also enjoy its beautiful parks, beaches, boating, fishing, scuba diving and all other types of outdoor recreation.

Economic Development Council

In a joint effort to improve the economic well-being and maintain an outstanding quality of life in South Florida, the City of Pompano Beach and the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce formed a public/private partnership called the Pompano Beach Economic Development Council (PBEDC). The PBEDC consists of local business leaders and city officials who meet on the fouth Monday of every month to discuss local business issues and how to strengthen and diversify the business climate.

The principal purpose of the PBEDC is the planning, encouragement, support and promotion of economic development and growth of the local economy. This is accomplished by promoting and encouraging the attraction of new business and industries to the city, supporting the retention and expansion of existing business and industries within the city to increase the tax base, increase local employment and improve the general welfare, prosperity and quality of life for the benefit of the residents of the City of Pompano Beach.

The Economic Development Council(EDC) meets the 4th Monday of every month at 5:00pm in the Commission Chambers Conference Room. Meeting dates and times subject to change for holidays. A full list of meetings can be found here
