The November 6th ballot includes a transportation question (back of page 3) asking voters whether to levy a 1% local option sales tax funding countywide transportation system improvements. The detailed plan, available by selecting “Project Map” or scrolling through “Projects in your City” in the tabs below, is intended to reduce traffic congestion, improve roads and bridges, enhance traffic light timing, develop safe sidewalks and bike paths, expand mass transit, fully fund special needs/on-demand services, fully fund community shuttles, connect greenways, enhance school safety zones and fund a variety of city transportation projects. The City of Pompano Beach is requesting public comment from all Pompano Beach residents on the U.S. Department of Justice 2018 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant Program is a formula grant to cities and municipalities based on crime and statistics. The grant funds are allocated by the Deparment of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance and administered by the City of Pompano Beach. Each jurisdiction proposes its own grant funded project and funds can be used for a variety of law enforcement programs and activities.

The City of Pompano Beach is eligible to receive grant funding through the 2018 JAG program. The City of Pompano Beach plans to utilize the funds towards Homeless Outreach and support from the Regional Crime Analyst which is currently provided by Sheriff of Broward County, Florida (BSO).

Request for Comments on Brownfields Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives

The Treasure Coast and South Florida Regional Planning Councils, and the City of Pompano Beach are requesting public comment related to an Analysis of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives plan for the Former Sabals Golf Course property. While a proposed redevelopment plan has not been finalized, it is anticipated that the former Sabals Golf Course site will be redeveloped as a recreational sports complex.

The Vulnerable Population Registration was designed as a joint partnership between all municipalities and Broward County to assist emergency responders to better plan for future recoveries from hurricanes and other disasters. Registering into the database should not be considered as a guarantee that you will be provided services or be placed on a priority list for emergency responders; however, it will help us to be better prepared to respond after a disaster. Historic Register

The city of Pompano Beach is seeking nominations for its Historic Register. Nominations may include properties owned by private citizens, businesses and nonprofit organizations. The properties or sites must reflect a distinct architectural style that is worthy of preservation or must represent a person, event or era that was important in the history and development of Pompano Beach. In general, properties should be at least 50 years old. The city and Broward County offer tax incentives for properties on the city's Historic Register.
