National Night Out

Join the Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District as we observe “National Night Out Against Crime,” an annual event designed to strengthen our neighborhoods through police and community partnerships. “National Night Out” aims to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs and, most importantly, sends a message to the criminals that our neighborhoods are organized.

This is a perfect opportunity to get to know the BSO deputies who patrol your streets and unite with your neighbors in the fight against crime. As a show of support on “National Night Out”, citizens are encouraged to turn their lights on. In past years, more than 37 million people comprised of local residents, law enforcement, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from all 50 states participated in “National Night Out”. All these events are free of charge and we invite you to join us!

This year’s “National Night Out” event will be on August 4th, 2015 from 6:30 pm to 9 pm at Founders Park located at 316 NE 3rd Street, Pompano Beach.

Brazilian Sessions: Cezar Santana Trio

Chasing his love for music, Santana dropped out of college in Rio de Janeiro to pursue a career in the industry. His talent, nonetheless, had sprung out much earlier, when at age 7 he asked for his first guitar. "My mother used to sing all the time and that's what inspired me in the first place", explains Cezar, referring to his love for music since early childhood. In 1981 Santana moved to Madrid, where he spent the next five years. It was in Spain that he launched his professional career and also perfected his musical skills. In 1982, he produced Spain's first Brazilian radio show and won his first prize as a professional musician, ranking third at the Madrid Jazz Festival in 1986. A brilliant singer, songwriter and guitarist from Rio de Janeiro, Cezar has since performed in front of audiences in four continents. With his dynamic virtuosity and unique feel for his viewers, he transforms listeners with his clever lyrics and contagious grooves. He translates his music into a medley of English, Portuguese and Spanish lyrics. The compositions harmoniously cover the spectrum that goes from Brazilian beats to Mediterranean melodies. Business and community leaders will provide insightful, informative sessions on funding resources, public art programs, creative business programs, marketing, social media and creative collaborations.

International Night: Federico Britos

Musicians from around the globe regale audiences with sounds from their homelands in our unique gallery atmosphere at BaCA's "International Night."

The six-time Grammy winner hailing from the nation of Uruguay, Federico Britos has performed with many renowned artists, including Nat King Cole, Astor Piazzolla and Vinicius de Moraes. There is no greater proof of the universality of jazz and classical music than that which embodies the career and life work of Federico Britos. This violin master and Miami resident is as equally adept within the world of jazz music as he is in the classical realm, has built a solid reputation throughout the Southern Hemisphere of the Americas.

Former cinema superhero Riggan Thomson is mounting an ambitious Broadway production that he hopes will breathe new life into his stagnant career. Brazilian Sessions: Beatriz Malnic Trio

World-class musicians showcase their country’s eclectic sounds for a series of intimate concerts in BaCA's East Gallery. Brazilian vocalist Beatriz Malnic a one of the most highly respected interpreters of Bossa Nova and Samba. She has performed and recorded with Brazilian musical luminaries such as Chico Buarque, Geraldo Vandre , Lucio Dalla, Roberto Menescal, Maria Creuza, Duduka da Fonseca, and worked with Brazilian pop superstar Toquinho 5 years, touring the world and making several recordings and videos. Besides being an in-demand performing and recording artist, Beatriz is also as well respected teacher, arranger, and choir director and is the co-director and founder of the 50 voice all-female vocal group “Brazilian Voices.” Beatriz is also the winner of several awards including the "Brazilian Press Award for "Best Brazilian singer" and the "Brazilian International Press Award" for the best CD released by a Brazilian local artist. In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love.

However, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) proves that he is still very much in control when word comes of a cruel change in the rules for the upcoming 75th Hunger Games.

Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow. At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem — a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.

Listening one of the premier Journey Tribute bands in the US, Chain Reaction, you can sing along to memorable favorites while you walk along the handcrafted and art filled walkway while on a Discovery Tour of complimentary wine tasting. Every First Friday from 6pm-9pm Harbor Village is transformed into a pop-up festival free and exciting for the entire family!

New wines from varying regions are featured monthly and with the Discovery Tour Guide you can serve as a wine connoisseurs by judging each wine and turning it in to register to win a grand prize given away each month including gift certificates from local merchants, CRA swag bags and select featured wines.
