Take Pride in Our Parks

Have you been to one of our many parks recently? The City of Pompano Beach has one of the most active and beautiful parks and recreation programs in Florida!

A few months back, we shared updates regarding the McNair Park redevelopment, including details about Kaufman Lynn Construction creating an artificial turf football field with bleacher seating and a press box, new sports lighting, a new concession/bathroom/gym building, new pedestrian sidewalks, new site furniture and picket fencing, and a new playground and exercise area, among other improvements.

Now, we are excited to share more details about other amenities. The concession building will boast new multi-use gym equipment, a dedicated yoga area, and a concessions room with new food service equipment.

As part of the site redevelopment, the existing asphalt parking lot at the South area of the park will be reconfigured with revised parking stalls and additionally will have a portion milled and resurfaced. New landscaping, paired with relocation of existing trees, will be implemented throughout the park, and the current basketball court will be resurfaced, and new hoops will be installed

Currently, the work within the City’s boundaries is 95% complete. In addition, the neighboring parcel to the north, owned by the Broward County School Board, will be transformed into an 8-lane running track development with a practice football field. Included will be sports lighting, long jump pits, a speaker system, and site development/landscaping. Work is under way and expected to be completed by late summer. Stay tuned to social media, our website and newsletter for the reopening details!

We are also excited to announce that construction is entering the final phase for the Senior Activity Center located at 2005 NW 9th Street. We look forward to sharing more details about the grand opening and programming in an upcoming newsletter.
