Fields of Vision: The Imaginative Power of Artists After 270 Days

From Studio to Spotlight, BaCA's Artists in Residence Class of 2024 presents the enchanting “Fields of Vision: The Imaginative Power of Artists After 270 Days” culminating exhibition, featuring paintings, installations, performance art, and more. As the pinnacle of the artists' time together and a true celebration of creativity, innovation, and community, this exhibition celebrates Alejandra Abad, Djerlens “DJ” Chery, Louiveste La Croix, Oscar Montoya, T.M. Pride, and Renee Rey’s undeniable talent, growth, and dedication as professional artists. The 2023-2024 class of AiRs represents a diverse mix of artistic mediums. Each artist's unique perspective, cultural background, and collaborative spirit has fueled the creation of new artwork and an even greater sense of community. Their artistic journeys and creative practices have been on display throughout the residency as a source of inspiration to the City's residents and the area's aspiring artists. When viewed in isolation, each artist's final residency project highlights their commitment to their craft; when appreciated in its totality, “Fieldsof Vision: The Imaginative Power of Artists After 270 Days” offers the viewer a thought-provoking glimpse of artists pursuing excellence.

About the Residency

The City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department relaunched its Artists in Residence (AiR) Program at the historic Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA) in October 2022. This is the second class of the newly relaunched program. The AiR Program provides artists with studio space to create new work, collaborate with fellow resident artists, and engage with the community. Annually, a distinguished panel of judges will select new artists for each class. This dynamic and diverse group of artists has been in residence for nine months.
