Geographic Information Systems
A GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is defined as an advanced computer system capable of collecting, storing, viewing, and analyzing geographically referenced or spatial information. 'Geographically Referenced' or 'Spatial' simply means that the information can be viewed on a map and analyzed based on location and proximity. The GIS Division provides broad access to geographical data, maps and applications to the City staff and to the public. The GIS Staff is committed to the development and maintenance of the City’s digital spatial databases.
