Major City Improvements Proposed in G.O. Pompano!
Ballot Question No 1. Streets, Sidewalks, Bridges and Streetscaping
This bond is designed to upgrade streets and bridges at various locations in Pompano Beach and reduce traffic congestion for better commute and travel times. The measure also makes improvements to landscaping and sidewalks. Improvements include drainage modifications to reduce flooding, moving overhead utilities underground to reduce power outages, as well as building new sidewalks and enhancing roadway crossings for safer pedestrian travel.
Infrastructure improvements will be made throughout the city. The roads included in the initiative are Dixie Highway, McNab Road, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, NE 33rd Street and A1A from Hillsboro Inlet to Terra Mar Drive. Improvements will also be made to the SE 5th Avenue Bridge, the Terra Mar Drive Bridge and in the Collier City and Palm Aire neighborhoods.
Ballot Question No 2. Parks, Recreation and Leisure Activities
This bond will fund projects in various locations in the City to beautify public areas, add and improve green spaces and enhance recreational parks. In addition, the 53-year-old Pompano Beach Pier, which has exceeded its recommended life span and suffered damage from prior storm events, will be replaced with a more elevated and wider pier. The new Pier’s design will provide better storm resistance, meet rising water levels and provide a better fishing, viewing and recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors alike.
Ballot Question No 3. Public Safety Projects
This bond measure proposes improvements to upgrade the Public Safety Complex, and replace emergency operation facilities with a new complex to reduce emergency response times and enhance fire and emergency services. Two outdated fire stations that were constructed back in the 1970s will be replaced and a new fire station constructed. Renovations to Ocean Rescue Building and replacement of outdated lifeguard towers are also part of the initiative and are designed to improve public safety operations and to make the City’s beaches safer.

| Collier City Neighborhood Improvements | This project entails analysis, topographic surveying, procurement of necessary easements, design, and installation of light fixtures throughout the Collier City area. This 450-acres neighborhood with approximately 5100 residents and is in need of additional street/pedestrian lighting. The proposed lighting will not only serve to beautify this section of the City, but will also provide for improved safety conditions. In 2010, the Community Redevelopment Agency conducted a survey and 90.6% of survey respondents requested improvements to street lighting due to safety concerns (over 72% of the residents participated in the survey).
