10:00 am
City officials will once again be cutting a ceremonial ribbon for Centennial Park, the latest GO Bond improvement project. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the park located at 700 NE 10 Street.
Centennial Park sits on four-acres of land located at 450 NE 10th Street. The existing park contains the historic Sample-McDougald House. The GO Bond funded improvements to Centennial Park include new walkways and an approximate 4,000 square foot open-air pavilion with a 1,000 square foot attached, enclosed building area.
Supplemental parking for the park has been allocated across the street at the new Youth Sports Complex. The added parking provide overflow that will be utilized during special events in the park such as weddings, communions, bar-mitzvahs, etc.
The new pavilion will be dedicated to long-time resident and pioneer Margaret White who played a significant role in moving and preserving the Sample-McDougald House to it current location at Centennial Park.
About G.O. Pompano!
In 2018, voters overwhelmingly approved the “G.O. Pompano!” bond initiative, which secured $181 million in funding to improve local infrastructure, public safety and quality of life for Pompano Beach’s residents. The voter-approved funding has made it possible for the City to upgrade local roads, bridges and public safety facilities like police and fire stations, as well as transform old parks and playgrounds into modern and inviting community spaces.
