CERT is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) nationwide training program that educates citizens and business owners in the event of a catastrophic disaster. The classes offer information and interactive training on several important aspects of emergency management. CERT classes teach disaster preparedness response skills such as how to identify and anticipate hazards, extinguish small fires, conduct light search and rescue, assist emergency responders, apply basic medical techniques and learn to reduce hazards in the home and workplace. CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
CERT graduates are provided with a certificate of completion as well as emergency and protective equipment for their home or business. For more information or to register, visit: www.pompanobeachfl.gov/getready or call: 954-786-7920.
