10:00 am
City officials will be cutting a ceremonial ribbon for the latest GO Bond project: Palm Aire Bridges. The event will be held on Wednesday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the south bridge located at 623 Oaks Drive.
The Palm Aire Bridges Improvement Project consisted of creating a stronger pedestrian connectivity between the North Palm Aire Drive Bridge, West Palm Aire Drive Bridge and the Herb Skolnick Center. The two upgraded bridges include new railings and lighting, wider sidewalks to allow pedestrians to go to and from on the bridges, structural improvements under the bridges to extend their life cycles, an attractive pathway with a refurbished asphalt path, shaded and flowering tree canopy along the pedestrian pathway, unified light pole themes, benches, trash receptacles and pedestrian connectivity to the Herb Skolnick Center.
About G.O. Pompano!
In 2018, voters overwhelmingly approved the “G.O. Pompano!” bond initiative, which secured $181 million in funding to improve local infrastructure, public safety and quality of life for Pompano Beach’s residents. The voter-approved funding has made it possible for the City to upgrade local roads, bridges and public safety facilities like police and fire stations, as well as transform old parks and playgrounds into modern and inviting community spaces.
