The Pompano Beach CRA is excited to present the Master Plan for the McNab House & Botanical Gardens on January 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Emma Lou Olsen Center. After gathering valuable community input, a prestigious team of design and operational experts has transformed the initial concept into a detailed design that now features an immersive sensory garden, a fully optimized restaurant with an expanded outdoor patio, and a stunning event pavilion.
“The Pompano Beach CRA is honored to be collaborating with a world-class team of experts to create a one-of-a-kind destination that will delight residents and visitors for generations,” said Nguyen Tran, CRA Director. “Our local residents’ participation, coupled with the visionary expertise of our team, has resulted in a master plan for a truly remarkable space that will be a source of pride for our City.”
The McNab House, built in 1926, was moved from its original location on Atlantic Boulevard, when the owners sold the land for development. With the support of the Pompano Beach Historical Society, the Pompano Beach CRA saved the historic home, moving it several blocks to McNab Park, with the vision of transforming the home into a restaurant and the surrounding land into a botanical garden.
To take this project from concept to reality, the Pompano Beach CRA assembled a tremendous team of experts including Bermello Ajamil Architects, Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, Mad Room Hospitality Group, Kravit Architects, MUE Structural Engineering, Chen Moore Civil Engineering, Hammond & Associates, FCA Kitchen and RSM Design. At the meeting, the team will present the comprehensive project Master Plan . A few key highlights include:
The Botanical Garden
After careful analysis, the concept of a sensory garden was selected for the botanical gardens. This engaging and memorable design will make our gardens a prime attraction. With changeable elements that engage all five senses, the gardens will be filled with interactive art displays, fragrant herb gardens, soothing bamboo groves, tactile walking paths, and so much more. These captivating elements will both delight and educate guests as they walk through this a meticulously designed botanical environment featuring a stunning assortment of flora.
The McNab House
Using an element of our City’s history as the cornerstone of an innovative new destination was always an integral part of the plan. During the past few months, the team developed the plan which will optimize the entire house as an operational restaurant with various experiences including a basement wine bar and expansive outdoor patio. During the presentation, the team will also detail the kitchen annex, which allows for additional dining space.
Event Spaces
Destinations require spaces to celebrate, and the team has optimized the plan to support a variety of events, weddings, and other community activities. The event pavilion’s design will feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor feel. In addition, a vast deck will be built around the grand Ficus tree providing a beautiful setting for a variety of gatherings.
