Prepare for the Unexpected – Join the CERT Program in Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Training Center | 180 SW 3rd Street
Wednesday, February 12th
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In a world where natural and man-made disasters are becoming more frequent, the need for prepared communities is greater than ever. As we’ve witnessed in the media and experienced first-hand, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, fires, hazardous material incidents, and even acts of terrorism are unfortunate parts of our reality. The aftermath of these events can quickly overwhelm emergency responders, making trained volunteers—especially those in our Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)—a critical asset during times of crisis.
The CERT Program empowers residents with the skills and knowledge to respond effectively to disasters right in their own neighborhoods. Through comprehensive training, participants learn disaster preparedness for hazards that could impact Pompano Beach. The program covers life-saving skills like fire safety, light search and rescue, basic medical operations, and team organization—preparing CERT members to assist first responders when disaster strikes.
Whether offering support during the early stages of an emergency or helping with recovery efforts in the aftermath, CERT members become key figures in their community’s resilience. Beyond disaster response, CERT volunteers are encouraged to engage in local emergency preparedness projects, making their neighborhoods stronger and more proactive.
Get Ready to Make a Difference!
Starting February 12th, join the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Department for eight weeks of hands-on CERT training every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This interactive program offers practical exercises with no exams, allowing you to develop essential skills to protect your family and community during the critical first hours after a disaster. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate and become official members of the Pompano Beach CERT Team. Plus, your journey doesn’t end there—ongoing volunteer opportunities keep you engaged and ready to serve.
What’s in Store for CERT Participants?
As part of a nationwide program created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), CERT training provides citizens with the skills to act in catastrophic events. The program covers disaster preparedness, fire suppression, light search and rescue, basic medical techniques, and CPR training—all designed to give you the confidence and tools to help when every second counts.
Don’t wait for the unexpected—become part of a stronger, safer community!
