Roy L Rogers Family Park Dedication

On Thursday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m., the City of Pompano Beach will officially rename and dedicate Hillsboro Inlet Park to the Roy L Rogers Family Park.

Roy Rogers exemplifies natural leadership qualities. He has served in many capacities as a long-established businessman, planner, visionary, ombudsman, and educator just to name a few. His interests are supported with actions on important topics such as the environment, education, nature and civic involvement.

Roy Roger’s meaningful and distinguished career began when he attended the US Naval Academy and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy on a nuclear submarine for four years during the Admiral Rickover era.

Mr. Roger’s body of work demonstrates that his accomplishments are far above the average professional career. His work has improved the quality of life for the residents of Pompano Beach, Broward County and the State of Florida. Some of the highlights include:

  • Vice President of Planning at Minto Builders which developed “The Township” in Coconut Creek along with other residential developments in Broward and Palm Beach counties
  • Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Planning for the South Florida Division of Arvida, and was part of a team that directed the planning and implementation of “Weston”, the 10,500-acre mixed use community in Broward County
  • Special Consultant to architecture, engineering, planning, and technology firm IBI Group, Inc.
  • Served as Chair of the Florida Commission on Ethics for 12 years under three governors
  • Helped establish and secured funding for Butterfly World in Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek
  • Chaired the committee that established by laws for the Pompano Beach Economic Development Committee (EDC) serving on it for 25 years
  • Appointed to the South Florida Water Management District (Budget Review Committee).
  • Chaired the Education Committee working closely with Broward County School Board to improve Pompano Beach’s F grade schools to B grade schools in only 3 years
  • Received a Governor’s appointment to serve on the Governor’s Commission for a Sustainable South Florida.
  • Largest contribution to establish Pompano Beach Wahoo Bay for Shipwreck Park

With the accomplishments, service and dedication he has contributed, it is an honor to rename Hillsboro Park, located at 2700 North Ocean Boulevard, the Roy L Rogers Family Park.

*Parking for this dedication will be located at Pompano Beach Parking Garage, 3460 NE 3rd Street, and shuttle service from this site will for one hour before and one hour after the ceremony had been completed.
