Youth Sports Complex Ribbon Cutting | One More G.O. Pompano! Project Completed
700 NE 10 Street
Wednesday, September 20th
10:00 am
City officials will be cutting the ceremonial ribbon on the brand-new Youth Sports Complex on Wednesday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. The park is located at 700 NE 10 Street.
The Youth Sports Complex includes a new 4,000 square foot facility with a concession area, office space and restrooms. The park features four brand new rectangular fields for soccer, lacrosse and flag football. The two larger fields on the east half of the park feature state-of-the art sports lighting and first-class artificial turf. The two smaller fields feature Bermuda grass and were designed for younger children.
Residents in Pompano Beach had voiced their desire for rectangular fields needed to address the explosive demand for soccer facilities, therefore City officials made it part of the General Obligation (GO) Bond initiative.
This state-of-the-art facility was designed to be a continuation of the Four Fields Complex on NE 10th Street, blend in with the community and provide parking support for the historic Sample-McDougald House built in 1916.
About G.O. Pompano!
In 2018, voters overwhelmingly approved the “G.O. Pompano!” bond initiative, which secured $181 million in funding to improve local infrastructure, public safety and quality of life for Pompano Beach’s residents. The voter-approved funding has made it possible for the City to upgrade local roads, bridges and public safety facilities like police and fire stations, as well as transform old parks and playgrounds into modern and inviting community spaces.
