Emergency Shelter

All homeless housing interventions, with the exception of Covenant House, Women In Distress and Lippman Center are accessed through Broward County’s Homeless Coordinated Entry and Assessment Screening, Information and Referral (CEASIR).

The following shelter placements require entry from the Homeless Helpline (954.563.HELP [4357]) or the TaskForce Outreach Team:

  • Central Homeless Assistance Center (CHAC) operated by:
  • Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc. 954-779-3990
    • Emergency housing with comprehensive rehabilitative services for men, women and families. Admission through the TaskForce Outreach Team.
  • Hope South Florida (Family Day Respite) 954-563-HELP (4357)
    • Emergency and rapid-rehousing for homeless families and veterans. Admission through the Homeless Helpline.
  • North Homeless Assistance Center (NHAC) operated by:
    • Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Inc.954-779-3990
    • Emergency housing and a comprehensive recovery program for men, women and families. Admission through the TaskForce Outreach Team
  • Salvation Army (Individual Day Respite) 954-524-6991
    • 1445 W Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
      Admission through the TaskForce Outreach Team.
    • Outdoor shelters (ODS) are available however it is via referral only.

The following shelter placements do not require entry from the Homeless Helpline or the TaskForce Outreach Team.

  • South Homeless Assistance Center (SHAC) owned and operated by:
    • Broward Outreach Center 954-926-7417
    • Emergency housing and a comprehensive recovery program for men, women and families. Admission through the TaskForce Outreach Team.
  • Covenant House 954-561-5559
    • 733 Breakers Avenue, Fort Lauderdale
    • Emergency/temporary housing and crisis intervention for youth under 21 and youth with babies. 24-hour intake.
  • The Lippman Family Center 954-568-2801
    • 221 NW 43rd Court, Oakland Park.
      Short term crisis and runaway housing for abused, troubled and homeless adolescents (12-17 years).
      24-hour intake.
  • Women In Distress 954-761-1133
    • Emergency/temporary housing and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence. 24-hour crisis line intake.

Transitional Housing

All transitional housing requires a referral from Coordinated Assessment and/or a homeless provider.

      • Residential facility for males ages 21-65 offering a spiritual based 12-step work therapy program.
