Emergency Repair Program - OPEN(This program is open as of July 9, 2024, at 7 am)

The City of Pompano Beach, Office of Housing and Urban Improvement (OHUI) has officially OPENED its Waiting List for low-income City residents seeking assistance through the Housing Rehabilitation and Emergency Repair Programs. The Housing Rehabilitation/Emergency Repair Program Waiting List will remain open until the maximum number of applicants (200) has been reached.

Purpose

The program provides up to $5,000 for emergency repairs for those income eligible families who would otherwise be financially unable to improve their own dwelling conditions. This assistance may be used in conjunction with other housing rehabilitation and repair programs offered by the City. An applicant can only receive assistance after 5 years have passed from the date that the last assistance under emergency repair was provided.

Eligibility Terms

Limited to owner-occupied households. To be eligible for this program, homeowner must live in the house, have homestead exemption and deed must be in homeowner's name. Income qualified homeowners residing within the City of Pompano Beach may apply for the program. Household income cannot exceed 80% of median area income. Household assets cannot exceed $50,000.

Type of Repairs

Repairs are limited to items that present an immediate danger to life, limb, property or safety of the public or the occupants. Interior and exterior repairs (including, but not limited to roof, water heater, plumbing, electrical, sewer, outside repair, windows, doors, ramps, handrails, other emergencies as may be determined to be a health or safety hazard, on a case-by-case basis.
